OWTS (Septic System) Inspections

Discovering issues early with your septic system can prevent extensive and expensive repairs later on. A replacement system could set you back between $15,000 to $50,000 depending on the specific requirements of your property.

It is advisable to have your septic system inspected every one to three years, depending on its type. These inspections ensure that the tank isn't overly full, allowing it to function effectively, and verify that the system isn't leaking untreated sewage into your yard or contaminating groundwater.

A malfunctioning septic system can degrade well water and pose serious health risks to your family, pets, and neighbors.

What we Provide

We conduct both Maintenance and Functional Inspections:

Maintenance inspections identify the necessity for pumping and pinpoint minor issues before they evolve into major hazards that could threaten human health and the environment. Maintenance inspections are categorized into two types:

  • First Maintenance Inspection
    • We gather information before the inspection from the home owner.
    • Evaluation of the homes plumbing components for damage and leaks.
    • Recommend upgrades to water saving fixtures, reducing septage load.
    • Locating and evaluating the components of the treatment tank, cesspool and/or seepage pit, and effluent absorption field.
    • Provide a detailed written report to the client.
    • Scheduling routine maintenance inspections.
  • Routine Maintenance Inspection
    • Schedule routine inspections to evaluate all components of the septage system, reducing probability of minor issues from evolving into major and costly hazards
    • Schedule timely cleaning of tank. Tank cleaning charge will be added to the inspection charge.
    • Verbal and/or written report to the client.

Functional Inspections are used primarily during a property transfer to protect the consumer and identify systems in need of correction and further evaluation. A functional inspection determines whether a system serves the house adequately.
